Trump Supports Those Who Attack Sandy Hook Survivors

screen-shot-2015-12-07-at-9-59-57-amI had no idea the parents of Sandy Hook victims are (STILL!) being viciously and violently harassed by fans of the fake news InfoWars site, which promotes that the massacre was staged. Here are the parts I found most shocking and troubling about a great piece by the Los Angeles Times.

– The family of Noah Pozner (killed at Sandy Hook) has received hate-filled calls and violent emails from people who say they know the shooting was a hoax. Photos of their son — some with pornographic and anti-Semitic content (the family is Jewish) — have been distributed on websites.

– Most of the families associated with Sandy Hook have removed or protected their social media accounts and unlisted their telephone numbers; some have changed homes.

– An unemployed waitress was arrested in December in Florida on charges of making death threats against Noah Pozner’s dad, with repeated phone calls to his home in which she muttered ethnic and racial slurs and profanities.

– It took [Noah’s dad] nearly a year to remove a video that featured photos of Noah over the soundtrack from a porn movie. He is currently pressing YouTube about a video with maps and directional arrows pointing to an apartment where he used to live, chillingly zooming in on him through a balcony door as though a sniper was aiming a shot. Fearful for his safety, he has moved six times since Noah’s death (he now lives in Florida) and has all mail sent to post office boxes.

– An unabashed Trump supporter during the campaign, InfoWars’ Alex Jones says he received a personal call of thanks from the president-elect days after the election. Chew on that for a while. The president of the United States supports, even relies on, InfoWars. 😳

Can you imagine people being so deluded in their thinking as to travel to Newtown to harass the medical examiner or destroy the children’s memorials or make death threats against their parents? Sadly, these people form part of Trump’s most fervent base.

A Constituent Letter to Senator Richard Burr

17021698_10208456393992939_9015458190756690954_nHello Senator,

I have been following the investigation of Russian interference in our election. I saw in January you released a statement with Sen. Warner saying that you plan to have hearings, interview many officials and publish an unclassified report. When can we expect to receive some news on this important investigation?

You seem to be a vocal supporter of this president you are responsible for investigating for unprecedented impropriety. You even made calls to reporters at his behest. You are not supposed to be the PR wing of the White House, sir. Even I know that’s not what the framers of the Constitution intended. You were trying to play down the story in the days after former NSA Michael Flynn resigned. Why weren’t you holding hearings instead of trying to sway reporters?

The trend is alarming. The Republican-held Congress is voting down in committee every effort to hold Trump accountable to the American people for his secret business ties and debts. Most – not all – Republicans are acting like the Russian interference was a ruse, or good for American diplomacy, or not worth investigating. Is the lack of appetite for this investigation (compared with Benghazi, for instance) because the Russian interference helped your Party, sir?

Are you a Patriot, sir?

I hope that for the future well-being of this nation and the integrity of our democratic electoral process you will hold Trump accountable the same way you would have with Obama if the circumstances had been the same.

I would love a reply that addresses my concerns without platitudes about how Americans were “clear about their priorities” in the election. Trump lost by 2.8 million votes. It’s clear to me that the majority of voters rejected Trumpism.

It would be a great benefit to the nation, sir, if you’d lead the way in taking a more bipartisan approach.

Thank you for listening,
Stacie Borrello
